Why is it important to work with polarity?

Why it important to engage with polarity&wholeness work? Myself and my co-leader/partner in polarity&wholeness work Ursula Glunk were discussing this question today – we’re planning on writing a book looking at polarity&wholeness and leadership. And we want to answer this question of why it is important. Here are my initial thoughts.
We live in a world which is increasingly divided – torn. Politically, socially and culturally we find ourselves living ‘either/or’ lives. Parker Palmer writes eloquently about healing the woundedness of this divided world in his book ‘Hidden Wholeness’.
As individuals in this world, we suffer disaffection, feeling disconnected to others (and often we are searching for ways to connect via social networkding) and often, to our own selves. Often, we can experience ‘fear of the other’ and project our shadow onto other people – sometimes whole cultures or countries.
We need leaders who can hold paradox, hold the tension between the poles, be able to be open and create spaces for third ways of thinking and being. And in the world – there is yearning for wholeness. Individuals come to coaches searching for it – communities seek it. The energy of the world is desparately wanting wholeness to emerge.
Polarity&Wholeness work allows for leaders – leaders in organisations, in their community, in business, in education, in social enterprises to develop their ability to create spaces for wholeness to emerge and flourish. First – creating the spaces within themselves, and then within their organisations/communities. We need leaders to know the way to wholeness and who can take others on that journey.
